Baldmin Engineering Works was established in 1998 with the initial intension of relocating the entire machine shop to Zambia to support the revitalization of the Zambian mining industry after privatisation. With the failure of the initial privatisation effort, in 1998, we decided to re-focus our efforts and consolidate our position from within South Africa. Baldmin was therefore incorporated in 1998, as a new heavy engineering machine shop, bringing together the various engineering and business skills of over 40 years engineering experience, of our founder and managing director: Jimmy Giannoccaro.
Jimmy’s business career started in Zambia with the establishment of Zambia’s largest heavy engineering work being, UNITED MACHINING WORKS in Chingola. Upon moving to South Africa in 1987 he bought two leading engineering companies, BENONI ENGINEERING WORKS and PYLON ENGINEERING. Both these companies were later sold in 1998’s, hence the launching of BALDMIN ENGINEERING WORKS.
Within 12 years of market presence, Baldmin has established itself a unique engineering company that consolidates different engineering sectors under one roof, as a one stop shop.
